What to Expect

An overview on how your journey would go with us

Our process is comprehensive and a no-leaf-unturned process. We take our time to ensure all patients that come through our doors are suitable candidates for a procedure that can change your life for the better or, the worse.

In this guide, we have put together a 5 step guide on what to expect from start to finish so that you have an understanding of the high emphasis on patient care, along with a satisfactory journey which at times undoubtedly will be emotionally challenging for you. We want to be there every step of the way.

Step 1: Pre-Assessment

Our journey together begins with an initial evaluation of your hair restoration needs. First, we’ll ask you to send us photographs of your areas of concern, allowing our specialists to properly assess your unique situation. Our surgeon will then review these images to determine your preliminary suitability for a procedure.

Following this initial review, we’ll schedule a dedicated pre-assessment consultation call. During this important conversation, we’ll discuss your candidacy in greater depth, understand your expectations for the procedure, explore any previous hair loss treatments you’ve tried, and review relevant aspects of your medical history.

At McBeth Elliott Hair, we maintain selective criteria for accepting patients. This careful approach ensures we only proceed with candidates who will genuinely benefit from our procedures, as we recognize the inherent limitations of hair transplant surgery and are committed to delivering realistic, satisfying results.

Step 2: Dr’s Consultation

If you successfully pass Step 1, then you will be invited to have a consultation with our doctor. This typically lasts 40-60 minutes and, in some more complex cases, more than 1 hour.

Our doctor offers a meticulous consultation which would involve going through your history, both medical and surgical.

If logistics permit and you have an in-person consultation, then a good look at the donor area, along with designing a provisional hairline which will be a guide to work from on the day of surgery.

During the consultation, expect our doctor not immediately to agree to do a procedure, we on average, only accept 20% of people for surgery immediately who present to us.

This is because, quite often, a lot of work needs to be done to ensure results post-surgery are going to be the best for you. By the end of the consultation process, you will have a complete treatment plan leading up to surgery.

Step 3: Surgery Booking

Now that you have been optimised and primed as best possible for a successful outcome, you will have a surgery date booked. The build-up to the surgery is both exciting and nerve-racking at the same time.

Dr. McBeth will be with you every step of the way. You are welcome to ask any questions you have in the build-up to the surgery, and we encourage you to ask questions as nothing is considered stupid, especially when you are about to embark on a life-changing surgery.

Step 4: Pre-Op Process

Approximately 2 weeks before your surgery, you will have a pre-operative phone call scheduled. This is a good time to ask any questions you may have.

The purpose of this call is to run through the do’s and the don’t’s prior to surgery. Pretty simple stuff but some of the things we want to make sure it is emphasised, so there is no confusion in that 2 week period building up to surgery.

Step 5: Day of Surgery

This is the day of the surgery itself. The day is finally here, all that planning, and now we are actually going to do the most exciting part of the procedure for you as one of our patients.

The day is fairly routine for us, and once a surgery is booked in you will be given a bunch of instructions on what you will be allowed to do on the day, and following the surgery.

The surgery is conducted by Dr. McBeth and typically lasts between 6-8 hours. We provide a 1-1 service so you will be the only procedure the doctor conducts on that day.

You will be discharged, with all of the things you will need for the coming 10 days to help maintain and clean the transplanted area.

Step 6: Post-Op Care

Now that your procedure is done, you have an intense program to follow over the next 10 days, with daily check-ins. This is important and involves sending daily pictures so that we can evaluate the progress and best direct you in terms of what needs to be done and if we need to veer off the original post-op care plan.

You will then be reviewed at 10 days, 3 months, 6 months and 12 months by Dr. McBeth to make sure you get the best possible outcomes. And then you are discharged from our care.

Thank you for taking the time to read through this. We look forward to welcoming you to our clinic.
